The promotion of
recreation, leisure and sport activities in forests and natural wilderness
areas is one of the main objectives of the National Forest Policy of Mauritius
(2006). The Forestry Service had created four Nature
Walk at Bras D’Eau, Monvert, Powder Mills and Sophie respectively during the
last decade. However, Bras D’Eau was proclaimed National Park in 2011.
